Queenstown Hill House

The 10-bedroom luxury house sits on an almost 1000 square metre steep section within walking distance to downtown Queenstown. It houses a library adjacent to the living areas and a wine cellar in the basement plus over two storeys boast magnificent views of Queenstown Bay.

Construction to Passive Haus standards was integrated from design through to construction. Multiple facets of sustainable design were introduced that were world-leading including ground source ventilation and heating/cooling. Warm roof and full airtight construction methodologies led the house to be highly innovative at the time, and NZ-leading construction techniques were appraised and awarded. Hamish and Janine managed this project from design and consenting through to procurement, construction monitoring and client handover. Complex structural requirements challenged the construction team and significant design management expertise supported a reduced foundation footprint and design. Cost management was undertaken to meet client budget.
